The Elemental Provisions method, commonly known as the Deemed-to-Satisfy (DTS) method, came into usage in 2003 when energy efficiency provisions were first introduced in the Building Code of Australia (BCA). The assessment process involves comparing the proposed building's construction to the standards prescribed in the National Construction Code (NCC). The assessment results in a strict pass or fail result with no flexibility.
The DTS method has become the more acceptable method of passing a home that has had a significant increase in size of 50% or more.
The main component of the DTS method is the glazing calculator, which determines whether the dwelling will pass or fail. Usually, without double glazing, the home will not achieve a 6 star rating, so keep this in mind when choosing this method if you are on a budget.
